New Award winning Executive Chef
takes charge at The Malt
We are delighted to announce Matt Brown has taken charge at the Malt.
Matt has joined the team at The Malt bringing with him 20 years of experience cooking in the Wharfedale valley.
After starting his career at 15 at Betty’s in Ilkley he went onto work with the area's top chefs, in many of the best restautants around.
He is best known for his work as head chef of the award winning kitchen at the Fleece in Addingham where he worked as Head Chef from 2002-2007. Winning prestigious awards such as the Yorkshire Life dining pub of the year and Robert Cockroft's Pub of the year in the Yorkshire Post and praise in guide books including the Good Food guide, Michelen Guide, Egon Ronay's and Harden's food guide.
He went on to create the catering for Good Food Shop in Addingham overseeing the Bistro and the outside catering division which provided catering for Ilkley’s May Day Carnival, Castle Howards Arboretum Trusts Launch and many weddings and summer fayres throughout Yorkshire. Which Matt is looking forward to developing at the Malt with its unique function rooms, bespoke wedding and outside catering service.
Matt's food is traditional, flavoursome and highly regarded and being a village lad he knows what locals want. Matt says "I've come to Burley to make The Malt a landmark venue. Somewhere the villagers can be proud to call their local. We want to put Burley on the gastronomy map whilst keeping our roots firmly with the locals and the community!"
